Chapel

As I was beginning this drawing, it seemed to be rather easy to me. I finished the entire roof (the complicated part) and then realized one side was an 8th of an inch off. So I redrew it because I couldnt figure out where I had gone wrong. This time, I decided to start from the end that I screwed up on and ended up messing up on the other side! (Again, I didnt realize it until after I finished the entire roof.) Henceforth, I finally drew it again and it was right, but I realized that I started poche'ing the bond for some odd reason - which is why the chimney and such is darker :o]

House Elevation

This was my favorite to draw and my best one. It came out very well, and I am pleased with it.

better perspective drawings

The top image is a two point perspective drawing of the corner of my dorm room. I was very pleased at how this came out. The second image is a one point perspective of Clairissa Anderson's studio desk. Her's seemed a bit more interesting to draw than mine so I chose to do hers instead.

Perspective Exercises

This is a two point perspective of a corner in the critique room. It is a rough sketch, but I feel like it came out better than I thought it would. I am pleased :)

We were sketching a box in two point perspective while playing close attention to light sources. I found it rather hard to visualize the object in this way because it seemed deformed to me. This might just be the angle in which I was sitting in front of the object to draw it.

North Arrows and Scales

Orthographic Projection Practice

Perspectives

These are four drawings of different points of perspective. We were to take photos of spaces with one and two point perspective, and one with an exaggerated lighting (leaf photo). These drawings turned out really well in my opinion and I learned quite a bit about shading and how the eye actually sees an object.

Sketch of Track Lights

A blown up picture of my favorite light fixture I drew. I tried to capture the shadow on the wall with my shading as well as certain aspects on the fixture itself.

Lighting

Three light fixtures drawn from three different views. We were asked to choose our favorite and blow it up larger.

Hardware

Three pieces of hardware drawn using three different techniques.

Final Four Thumbnails

These are four of the twig and cell phone drawings that I liked the best. I tried to incorporate aspects of the twig and cell phone in each block.

Thumbnail Drawings

These are various thumbnail sketches of my twig and cell phone, some are mingled, some are separated. Needless to say, the sharpie fumes gave me a high. :o]

Textured Logs

Some logs that Stoel set up for us to draw as an opening exercise to class. They helped me see the textures of the different sections of the wood. The smooth inside surface with small imperfections to the highly textured outer side of the log with the knots and many imperfections.

Ambidextrous Hands

This was a homework exercise for my design visualization class where we had to draw our hands with the opposite hand. It was an ambidextrous drawing and proved difficult when I commenced to drawing my right hand with my left. I did find that it helped strengthen my weaker hand and gave me more perspective in how to see objects in a new light.

A bike - negative space

This is a work in progress. It is a bike being drawn only drawing the negative space around the bike. I found this very difficult when it came to drawing the space between the spokes.

Blind Touch Drawing

This is a drawing exercise we had to do where we had to feel the object and draw it without seeing it. We were being forced to rely on our other senses than just sight.

Mess #2

This mess was inspired when I was perking a pot of coffee last night. I thought about how clumsy I usually am and imagined myself spilling my cup and all its contents on the table. I tried to capture the smooth texture of the liquid spilling out without making it appear to be too flat and 2 dimensional.

Mess #1D

The idea of the mess is found in the disarray of the paper inside the basket and the balled up paper balls around the basket. This particular mess I located in my friend's dorm room.

A Chair

The concept was to draw the negative space around the object in hopes of ending with the final product - in this case, a chair.
